Frequently Asked Questions
Starting therapy can come with a lot of questions. Here are answers to some of the things you may be wondering before getting started.
-
Beyond Capacity Therapy is a self-pay practice, which means I do not bill insurance directly. Individual therapy sessions are $150.
I know choosing to pay for therapy out of pocket is an important decision. Working outside of insurance allows us to make decisions about your therapy based on what feels most helpful for you, rather than what an insurance company requires for coverage.
If your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement. I can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company. Because every plan is different, I recommend contacting your insurance company directly to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits and reimbursement requirements.

Individual therapy is $150 per session. I reserve a full 60-minute appointment for you, although we may not always need the entire hour. Some weeks we may use all 60 minutes, while other sessions may naturally wrap up earlier.
Payment is due at the time of your appointment and is securely processed through the client portal.
I also offer a free 15-minute consultation if you'd like to talk briefly before deciding whether to schedule your first session.

I provide individual therapy for adults (18+) throughout Pennsylvania. I often work with people who are dealing with:
Anxiety and overthinking
Overwhelm and burnout
Boundaries and people-pleasing
Relationship and communication challenges
Life transitions
You don't need to fit neatly into one of these categories. Sometimes you just know that the way things have been going isn't working anymore.
-
Yes! All sessions are held securely online for adults located in Pennsylvania at the time of their session.
Telehealth allows you to meet from a private, comfortable space without adding a commute to an already busy schedule.
-
That's completely okay. You don't need to know the “right” thing to say, have your story perfectly organized, or even know exactly what you want to work on.
I'll help guide the conversation, and we'll figure out where to start together.
-
Your first session gives us time to get to know each other and start understanding what brought you to therapy.
I'll ask about what's been going on, relevant parts of your history, what you'd like to be different, and what you're hoping to get from therapy. You'll also have plenty of opportunity to ask me questions.
By the end, we'll start identifying what we might work on together and what our next steps could look like.

I typically recommend starting with weekly sessions. Early in therapy, meeting consistently gives us a chance to build momentum, practice new skills, and make adjustments quickly when something isn't working.
As I sometimes tell clients, unfortunately, therapy doesn't come with a crystal ball or a magic wand. Not every strategy we try will be the right fit on the first try. Meeting weekly means we can troubleshoot, adjust, and keep moving forward instead of waiting several weeks to try something different.
As you start feeling better and more confident using what we've worked on, we can reduce the frequency of sessions together. The goal isn't for you to need weekly therapy forever. It's to give you the support you need now so that, over time, you need less of it.

Beyond Capacity Therapy currently provides individual therapy for adults ages 18 and older.
I do not provide therapy for children or adolescents, and I do not offer couples counseling.
If another type of support would better meet your needs, I'm happy to help point you toward appropriate resources whenever possible.

Finding the right therapist matters. My style tends to work well for people who want therapy to feel warm and conversational, but who also want practical support and are open to making changes outside of our sessions.
You don't need to have everything figured out. Curiosity and a willingness to look at what's happening are enough to get started.
If you'd rather talk before scheduling a full session, you can book a free 15-minute consultation to ask questions and get a feel for whether working together makes sense.
-
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. I understand that things come up, so your first late cancellation is waived. After that, cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged 50% of the session fee.
-
Yes, HSA and FSA cards may be used for payment. Because individual plans and card issuers have their own requirements, I recommend confirming eligibility with your HSA/FSA administrator.
